Month in Review: March

A lot of things happened in March! I got a job and I graduated! But at the same time not a lot happened with my goals. Mainly because I was just really busy and exhausted after work. Which is also why I didn’t manage to post twice a week, and I don’t think I will post twice a week in April. So I think I will start focusing on just posting once a week again.

There was also a lot of things happening in Iceland. WOW Air went bankrupt and over 1000 people lost their jobs. For such a small country that Iceland is it has a tremendous impact. Then there were some strikes, but the new collective wage agreement should be signed today. Which might mean that I get a pay rise, or that more people will get fired since companies say that they cannot handle the extra staff cost. It has been a complicated month!

It hasn’t helped that the weather has been horrible! It has been snowing but it hasn’t been that cold so that the snow has just stayed in slush form.

For some reason I was hyper aware of the fact that a year ago I was in Helsinki and now I am back living in Iceland. It isn’t that I am missing living in Helsinki, it is more that I am being quite aware of how fast time is passing. I also think it is on my mind since we have started thinking about the future and where we would like to live.

19 in 2019 Update

Nineteen books read (11/19)

Ör – Auður Ava (audiobook) (Full review) (5/5)

Good morning, midnight – Lily Brooks-Dalton (Full review) (1/5)

Twelve socks knitted (1/12)

I knitted one pair and gave to my co-worker, and that is the only picture I took of the socks! Fail!

Eleven different breads baked (4/11)

Laugenbrötchen, which I need to make again, and again. They were delicious and were very quickly eaten up! So quickly I only managed to snap this picture for Instagram stories and then they were basically gone!

Tortillas, we have texmex type of food about once a month and always buy the ready made tortillas, which come in plastic. So we decided to make some from scratch and it was super simple!

Ten things that are no longer plastic. (1/10)

I bought some bamboo toothbrushes for us! They are a hit.

And that is it! As I said, not much happened with my goals this month!

  1. Congrats on your new job! I read about WOW Air going bankrupt. I am sure we will lose other airlines too in the near future. I have a flight on Norwegian coming up and I’m nervously following what is going on with them. I’m sure the weather will get better soon, we are having gorgeous sunny days now but its still chilly.

    1. Thank you! Yes, it is a shaky world in the airline industry. It doesn’t help that tourism is the biggest industry in Iceland. But things will be alright.
