I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up this book at the library. I hadn’t read anything from Rebecca Makkai before and honestly never heard of her. Now I feel like every think piece that resonates with me is written by her! She has infiltrated my life.

About I Have Some Questions For You
Copied from PenguinRandomHouse.com
A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.
But when the Granby School invites her back to teach a course, Bodie is inexorably drawn to the case and its increasingly apparent flaws. In their rush to convict Omar, did the school and the police overlook other suspects? Is the real killer still out there? As she falls down the very rabbit hole she was so determined to avoid, Bodie begins to wonder if she wasn’t as much of an outsider at Granby as she’d thought—if, perhaps, back in 1995, she knew something that might have held the key to solving the case.
My thoughts
The main character Bodie Kane is so far from being one dimensional that it has been a long time since I read about such a complex character. She is far from being perfect and I felt for her with the choices she had to make. It was also so interesting the introspection she went through with her present and her past.
I am not sure if I even cared who the killer was and I don’t think I remember who it was and I think in that sense the book might have been categorized incorrectly. It didn’t feel like a murder mystery thriller type of novel. The main autopsy of the novel was of Bodie’s life and principals. And I found that really interesting and good.
However, if you were mainly reading it for the thriller aspect you might be disappointed.
I Have Some Questions For You did stay with me for a long time after reading the book, there was just something about the social commentary that just hit home and as I said just stayed with me. It made me also think about my past and how I have changed as a person, as a woman and made me snuggle my daughter more after reading.
In conclusion, I do really recommend I Have Some Questions For You, great book!
Until next time!
