As I mention in my January yarn inventory I wanted to knit one sweater a month in 2024 and the sweater I finished in January was the Granddad Cardigan by Lene Holme Samoe.

I have knit several of her kids sweater before, I have one of her books so it is super easy just to grab it and start knitting. I decided I wanted to use some of the leftover yarn that I had and then KA got to choose the buttons from the button jar her great-grandmother used to own.

I knitted the sweater using two threads of Holst Tides and I used about 130ish grams of the yarn. The pattern called for 150 gr so that seemed to be right!
It was very easy to knit, except for the first steps, but I am not sure if that is because of translations issues or just that I haven’t knitted this type of cardigan before. But after I got help with how to start the sweater it was knitted in just a couple of days!
KA was happy about getting another sweater and had to wear it to kindergarten right away!

I love how the fade came out, and I knitted body and sleeve at the same time so that it would be even!

I have two more sweaters planned for KA but if you know of any fun patterns for toddlers I would love to see them!
Happy weekend!
