I started re-reading the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson. I first stumbled up on this series when I was 16/17 and read the first 2-3 books that had been published. I have fond memories of the silliness of them and when I saw that the series was on Storytel I decided to start listening to them.
There are books that age well, and then there are books that do not. Whilst the Undead series still has some of the things that I did enjoy with them they also have some other aspects that I find quite disturbing now. Simply, the book has not aged well. It is a little bit racist, a little big homophobic and quite sexist.
Even though the novels aren’t the greatest it is the silliness that makes me continue to listen to them. I am also listening to The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. However, since I watched the TV series made from the book I know how it will end and in times like these I am just not ready for anything sad. So I go back and listen to the Undead novels, which are short, silly and somehow just what I need.

The weather here in Akureyri hasn’t been helping either. It has been a long winter here. A VERY LONG WINTER. But I feel that finally I can see the end of the frost and snow, and that does bring hope to my heart. That one day, maybe I will see summer again. Because, to be honest, I have lost the hope that summer will come again.
I also hope that with spring, and with me working a bit less, my creativity and my urge to create will come back. Because in March I have mainly been at work and then fallen asleep before 9pm. Lather, rinse, repeat. I have been exhausted, I am exhausted.
But there are so many amazing things I am looking forward to that will happen this year but I somehow can’t even think about them at the moment.
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy!
