Knitting Astrid: Week 1

It has been a week since I started knitting my Astrid lopapeysa, and I have been enjoying it tremendously. As I mentioned last week I took a knitting break and it was great to start again.

As I started reading through the pattern before I even started knitting I felt a bit overwhelmed. The pattern is in Icelandic and I don’t think I have ever knitted something in Icelandic. I kept on wondering what exactly things like “frá réttu” and “fitjið upp” actually meant (e. from the right side and cast on, respectively).

However, I realized that reading ahead just causes problems and it is simply better for me just to follow each step as I get to it. I feel like I am learning a lot by following the pattern and think it will benefit me in my future knitting.

So far I have finished one ball of yarn, and knitted 26cm (about 10 inches). I am still very happy with the colour combo and hopefully I have enough to finish the sweater. I should, but I do worry that I will run out of the blue colour.

That is it for today.
