Iittala & Arabia Design Centre

I feel like most of my post this year have just been about places I have been going to in Helsinki. But that is a big part of my life right now. Especially since I am either studying or discovering this city, or like the next post I have planned, doing both! But in a month this semester will be over so I can start writing about something more interesting.

Additionally, I am writing about these things because I enjoy it. I don’t want to force myself to write about things that I simply don’t want to write!

But yes, the other day I needed to pick up a couple of things I had ordered from Iittala and I stumbled upon this gem. If I would rate all the Iittala shops in Helsinki this one is at the top, the one at Esplanadi is the second best and the one in Kamppi is the smallest one.

The Iittala & Arabia Design Centre is just such a beautiful place! It is a store but also shows the history of Iittala and how they design their glassware. I personally look at the store as a gallery where you can buy the art that they are selling.

We walked around the store twice just to take in everything and of course choose things for our future houses. Talking about things such as the difference between the Marimekko and Arabia cups.

I would describe this as a haven for people that love Iittala and Arabia. It is worth the 15-minute tram journey from downtown Helsinki. They do also have an official museum in the same building, with a free entry. Which is now officially on my list of things I need to see in Helsinki!
