Another month, another sauna! This time around I did not go ice dipping. Mainly because I did not trust that the water would be clean. Especially not when I saw a ferry heading to Tallinn passed so close to the swimming area.

Löyly has to be the most expensive sauna I have ever been to! The minimum booking time is 2 hours and it costs €19. Included in this price is a towel, a seat cover, and they do have shampoo and shower gel in the shower area.
The main problems with Löyly in my opinion would be firstly the super rude receptionist, and secondly that it is aimed at tourists. I simply do not like things that are specifically aimed at tourists. The Finnish sauna charm has been stripped into a more of a soft Disney version of what sauna might be.
I did not enjoy sitting inside the sauna trying not to be a part of someone’s selfie. Yea, that was odd. Especially since they went into the sauna, took a selfie and left again. Both times not really closing the door behind them.
And smaller issues with the sauna was that the sauna was simply too cold. The door into the sauna was not very air tight and with people going in and out and no one actually adding water into the heater. I did not try the smoke sauna that is located on the outside of the building but only the wood-fire sauna that is indoors.

It was nice that you got a towel and a seat cover, and it does look quite cosy and lush. But for €19 I was expecting something more! I think this is probably a great place to take a visitor to have a taste of sauna, just as you would offer them a tiny bit of salmiakki just so they can say that they have tasted it.
Would I go there again? Probably not.
Until next time
